Sneakerhead Collection
New York, New York
2020
A subculture-driven collection developed through sneakerhead interviews, manufacturing research, material and color studies, and visual motif development. Insights around exclusivity, history, collecting, and personal expression were translated into men’s, women’s, youth, and adolescent looks designed in dialogue with sneaker culture.
I. Abstract
This collection is inspired, as the title implies, by sneakerheads and sneakerhead culture. A sneakerhead is someone who is passionate about sneakers, collects them as a hobby, and is usually uniquely knowledgeable regarding the history and culture of sneakers themselves. To a sneakerhead, there are a few principles that rule above all; those are: exclusivity, silhouette, colorway, and history! Sneakerheads value having sneakers that others do now and they understand the immense value of a sneaker being 1/100 vs. 1/1,000,000. Sneakerheads value the history of the shoes that they rock. For example, the Air Jordan 1, released during the 1984-1985 NBA season, are a pillar in sneaker culture. Some would argue, this is the shoe that began sneaker culture.
The title sneakerhead also does not come with the presumption of age! Some sneakerheads speak to having started collecting sneakers as early as 7 years old! With that, for this collection, I was inspired to create not only Mens and Women’s looks, but also Youth and Adolescent looks.
Please enjoy your exploration of Sneakerhead (2020).
II. Mood Board
The mood board surveys sneaker culture through footwear history, streetwear, retail, collecting, branding, sport, and personal styling. The references frame sneakers as objects shaped by story, scarcity, color, and identity, creating the visual foundation for a collection informed by how sneakerheads see and wear the objects they collect.
A high-contrast palette of black, turquoise, red-orange, yellow, and white draws from the energy of sneaker colorways and athletic design. Fabric selections extend that language across tees, hoodies, windbreakers, jerseys, track pieces, and fitted garments, giving the collection a shared material vocabulary across age groups and silhouettes.

IV. Concepts and Visual Motifs
Research is distilled into a small set of recurring concepts centered on youth, exclusivity, and sneaker history. The Triple-8, “History, Now.” word mark, and Azani enneagram become graphic anchors, giving the collection a recognizable system that can move across garments, footwear, and presentation.
V. Selected Flats and Looks
The developed looks apply the collection’s motifs across sportswear, outerwear, footwear, and youth silhouettes. Repetition of the Triple-8 and enneagram creates continuity while shifts in proportion, garment type, and colorway allow the visual language to move across different wearers and styling contexts.
VI. Collection Presentation
The final lineup brings youth, men’s, and women’s looks into one shared collection world. Athletic references, graphic motifs, and sneaker-focused styling repeat across the group, showing how a common visual system can remain recognizable while adapting to different silhouettes, ages, and expressions of sneaker culture.
